Warm Congratulations to the Simultaneous Launching of Five Metro Lines of Chengdu

On 18 December 2020, five metro lines including Chengdu Metro Line 6 Phase I/II/III, Line 8 Phase I, Line 9 Phase I, Line 17 Phase I, and Line 18 from Sancha Road (excluded) to Tianfu Airport North Station were all launched at once. Up to this point, Chengdu has cumulatively operated 13 lines, covering 558 kilometers in total, with 373 stations, of which 46 are interchange stations, officially upgrading it to the "fourth city" of domestic rail transportation.

Out of the five lines commissioned for trial operation today, the Chengdu Metro Line 9, the first fully automated driverless line in Central and Western China, has received the most attention. The line has adopted GoA4 standard, the highest international automation level, and is configured with long-form fully automated driverless trains. HUAQI is privileged to be part of this project, offering SIL2 safety-grade on-board passenger information system for Chengdu Metro Line 9 trains.

Characteristics of fully automated driverless lines

The fully automated and driverless Chengdu Metro Line 9 is characterized by high equipment integration, sophisticated functional design, multiple interfaces of various systems, high degree of system linkage and intelligent vehicle organization, etc.. In comparison with the conventional line, there is a significant improvement in the level of automation, information and intelligence

The on-board passenger information system provided by HUAQI for driverless Chengdu Metro Line 9 boasts high redundancy reliability, comprehensive safety level functions and multiple technical innovation points to ensure safe and intelligent train operation in all aspects.

High system redundancy and reliability

HUAQI intelligent on-board passenger information system features multi-level redundancy mechanisms such as bus redundancy, equipment redundancy and module redundancy in the system design, and multiple reliability designs such as master and standby redundancy, safety guarding and hierarchical control in the software design, which provides highly reliable passenger information system for fully automated driverless line trains.

* Comprehensive functions of system SIL2 safety level

The on-board passenger information system provided by HUAQI for Chengdu Metro Line 9 has been dual certified by CNAS and DAKKS to SIL2 safety level standard, which covers 18 safety-related functionalities such as passenger emergency alarm and emergency broadcasting, with extensive coverage, full certification functions and high qualification.

* Variable CCTV monitoring screen

Driverless trains should also take into account the needs of manned trains. A sliding cover is installed on the driver's cab console, which can be closed while the driver's cab is open to avoid misuse by passengers. The CCTV monitoring screen in the driver's cab is equipped with a "variable screen" function, which allows automatic switching between the LCD function and the monitoring function in the passenger compartment as per the operation mode. The LCD image of the passenger compartment is displayed in driverless mode and the monitoring image of the passenger compartment is displayed in manned mode, which is the pioneer feature in China.

* Passenger emergency alarm with direct access to the control center

On the basis of the characteristics provided by fully automatic driving, passenger emergency alarms can realize direct communication with the control center in case of the absence of crew members on the train. On-board radio can also be set up directly from the control center to facilitate instant communication with passengers or timely adjustment of vehicle parameters to enhance passenger service quality.

* "Twelve linkages" monitoring system, all-round safety protection

Apart from the all-around dead-angle-free train monitoring, there are also twelve video linkage functions designed with passenger emergency alarm, door emergency unlocking, smoke and fire alarm, fire extinguisher, emergency exit and so on. In the event of an incident trigger, the video surveillance of the corresponding location is immediately activated to rapidly understand the on-site situation and achieve timely handling, thereby thoroughly protecting the safe operation of trains.

* Extra-large dynamic map, serving passengers with enriched information

The Chengdu Metro Line 9 designed by HUAQI is installed with a 43-inch extra-large dynamic map display, incorporating Chengdu characteristics in the interface design. The dynamic, three-dimensional effect is introduced during the train arrival, providing passengers with a more intuitive and immersive experience by adding humanized guidance information such as station entrances and exits, elevator locations, etc.

Chengdu Metro Line 9 is the fifth operating line that HUAQI has served in Chengdu subsequent to Line 3 Phase I/II/III, Line 4 Phase I/II, Line 5 and Rong Line 2 tram.
